Swine Flu Originated about ten years before the viruses were first isolated in a lab. The year that started Swine Flu is 1918. In 1976, Swine Flu Disease killed an Army recruit at Fort Dix, a military base in New Jersey. The 1976 strain, labeled "A/New Jersey/1979(H1N1)", resembled the 1918 H1N1 Virus and a National vaccination program was instituted. US President Gerald Ford was filmed getting a Swine Flu Vaccination shot in a nationally televised event.
Swine Flu Origin: 1988 Wisconsin State Fair Hog Barn
In 1988, Swine Flu killed an 8-month pregnant woman and put her husband in critical condition. The couple visited a hog barn exhibit during the 1988 Wisconsin State Fair in Walworth County, Wisconsin.
The baby was delivered prior to the woman's death from Swine Flu induced Pneumonia. The child and husband eventually lived and were discharged from the hospital.
Swine Flu Origin: 2009 H1N1 Flu Pandemic
The Origin of Swine Flu in 2009 started at a pig farm near Perote, Mexico. The first documented case was a 4 year old boy living in an area long know for its questionable swine farm practices. The first case of death related to Swine Influenza was a 39 year old government worker named Adela Cruz.
Since 2009. The Swine Flu Virus has infected over 1,000 Mexican citizens. The Swine Flu death toll in Mexico has climbed to more that 150. In April, the World Health Organization declared a "public heath emergency of international concern under the precepts of the WHO's International Health Regulations.
Since the Swine Flu Origin In Mexico, there has been a general concern about the chances of a global pandemic of the H1N1 disease. Most concerns are about the Swine Flu will become a primary global pandemic outbreak and many countries are incorporating major vaccination campaigns.
