Swine Flu Deaths in Mexico have reached over 200 (as of 09/17/2009). In March 2009, a new strain of H1N1 influenza was discovered. Initial reports indicate the Swine Flu Outbreak occurred as early as January and February 2009 making Mexico Ground Zero for the current Swine Flu Pandemic.
Swine Flu Deaths in Mexico, in a worse-case scenario, could reach over 2000 according to the Mexican Secretary of Health, Jose Angel Cordova. Prior estimates had Swine Flu Infecting 1 million Mexican citizens with up t0 1,000 swine flu Mexican deaths. Current estimates now push that number to over 5 million cases of Mexican Swine Flu.
Swine Flu Deaths in Mexico have forced school closings and practically shut down the capital of Mexico, Mexico City in an effort to curb the influenza virus. Mexico has a population of 107 million. Currently there are over 25,000 cases of swine flu with approximately 217 swine flu deaths.
All the Swine Flu Mexican Fatalities are giving Mexican health official a difficult puzzle to solve. Many observations have lead authorities to address the country's complicating factors such as crowded conditions, poor housing systems and rampant malnutrition. Mexican government officials are assessing the population-at-large for poor living conditions. So far, the health officials in Mexico estimate over 150 million dollars US have been spent to stem the rash of Swine Flu Deaths in Mexico.
The rate of swine flu deaths in Mexico has decreased since the viruses pandemic outbreak this past March 2009. Mexican health officials are urging the population to practice proper hand washing, covering coughing and sneezing and expect a swine flu vaccine in the near future. More federal action is expected in the future to slow swine flu death in Mexico.
